Today, Minister Petty is an Urban Gospel lyricist, performer, recording artist, and motivational speaker with an awesome testimony. Julius now uses God's gifts to write, sing, and build God’s Kingdom. Through his dynamic music Julius ministers to the souls of the youth a message of hope in hopeless times and light in dark day. His silky vocals are accentuated perfectly throughout this project over an exhilarating urban groove invigorating the uncompromising lyrics on each track. Julius humble beginnings started in Long Island, NY where he currently resides in Freeport. Julius' late uncle, for whom he is named, discovered his vocal talents at the early age of nine. Some of Julius' artist influences include Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, later Johnny Gil, India Arie, and most recently John Pee Kee. It’s no secret that his favorite song on the new project is “Thank You” a testimony to God’s claim on his life. His personal goals include practicing the 'Fruit of the Spirit”. Although he is interested in all aspects of music and ministry, writing and performing are his passion.
Julius Petty has blessed the stage in venues across the country including the Apollo Summer Stage in Harlem, The Urban Impact Summit, West Coast Conference, and the Dr. Bobby Jones Gospel hour airing on the Word Television Network. He’s been featured a multitude of times on the CFC Television Network and he’s been a guest artist on the Rev. Al Sharpton’s Weekly National Action Network Rally which airs live on the WLIB Gospel Radio Station, in NYC. Julius has recently completed his debut music video receiving raving reviews and was featured in VIP in the Streets, a documentary addressing the issue of violence in the urban communities being released in the Spring of 2008. Just recently, he was a guest on the Lisa Durden Show, which aired in Cablevision and Comcast and the Dr. Lewis Gospel Hour. Julius has ministered on programs with some of Gospel’s greatest legends, including Dottie Peebles, Dr. Shirley Caesar, Tramaine Hawkins, Vicki Winans, Marvin Saap, and Hezekiah Walker, just to name a few.
While in heaven on earth, this visionary imagines taking his ministry to the Grammy's, American Music Awards, Gospel, and Stellar Awards: later he dreams of ministering to the “whole world”, before GOD. He desires that the “World” has the opportunity to “Taste and See that the Lord is Good” and even promises that life will never be the same. A life time from now, Julius wants people to remember the following:
“My everlasting love for God, family, and all people, even my enemies”!
